I want to help because I love the game but I have lost respect for the community because it has turned into an oversized daycare center. Amir, I don't agree with you much, but I agree 100% with what you said. <3 to you Dan, but I've asked to help out plenty of times, and have been continually turned down. Usually it ends up with me being laughed at and ignored, even just to be a mod on the forums; it seems as if some people who run this site/CAL DoDS section are biased against me/others having any power whatsoever as if we can't handle it properly. While there is some people who cannot, some of us can, with maturity. Or I could just say it seems a bit sexist, as if you guys don't think a female would be able to handle it and help this community out.

Well i remember when i had ops in irc when i was actually on 24/7 ^___^ i did my job but then people like son1k started complaining why i had ops(guess he was mad that someone who hadn't touched the game beat him in a cal o lan). I actually really did care about the game at the time i still do but not as much cause community was full of aholes at the time. Not as bad atm but it's still annoying where people who care about the game don't even want to try and help.

Seek out resources required to make it happen; they're most likely available.

Now that there's becoming a collective pool of effort and interest, those who are in charge of respective sections of the community need to actively step forward and step up with their role. It's good to see Dan is doing his part with this site and ScrimDoDS to acquire active and fair people. As for CAL, I hate to call out Biggsy, but last season was a mess within CAL due to the collective effort of all the admins being pretty low (there were admins doing a great job, but at the same time there was a lot of dead weight). Without going into any specifics, there was a lot of stuff that should not have been tolerated, and with it being the primary driving force of the competitive scene, it's the most important to proactively keep the most experienced and active staff possible.

In short, if you're only looking to be in a lead position of the community to be in-the-know or feel special you hold a position others don't, don't step up. At the same time, if you get easily agitated and lose motivation, you're probably not the best for the position long-term. People are beginning to get called out for their laziness or dumb things they do in their position, and that's a positive thing. If you're in a position of any level of power, you should be able to accept that you will undoubtedly be publicly scrutinized at one time or another.

I have put plenty of threads up about people helping write or mod the forums and people have been given the permissions to do so but end up being like damn near everyone else and do 1-2 things then disappear or never do anything but then bitch about us removing you from staff. We do select people who are more upstanding in this community to do such things as moderate the forums and not because they are our friends. If you don't believe that then hey gotfrag.com have at it.

To the people that bitch about being overlooked for some things. Really? go read some posts on fragdods or things you have done and when you realize that if you was in our position would you hire someone that does that then come talk to me about how you have changed. This site isn't all about serious business but I rather have mods doing the right thing and being mature rather then having whomever do it and get PM'd by people to bitch and cry about such and such. Some of you think it's all easy to run a site or be an admin but really it's not. Anything that happens you get pm's and not just from 1 or 2 people but from several. I spend most of my time when I am online in pm's trying to deal with some kind of situation that has to do with fragdods thus why I don't play this game that much anymore. This community is small yes but it's not just 10 people and that's it.

Also this thread is intended for people that want to help not cry over not being choosen cause well we can't pick everyone other wise whats the point, might as well just give everyone admin with full permissions and just let everyone do whatever they want. I've offered to write for Fragdods and I've even applied to be an Admin. Mostly just so I could say, yes I do care and I'm not whining about CAL's problems then not trying to do anything about them..But point being, I've offered my help.

Dmon, you want me to come on here and tell you what I can do for CAL or the dods community ? I can be around and timely about events. (Something I find CAL-Admins haven't done in the past.) I can throw in my 2 cents about what I think should or shouldn't be done in the actions of CAL.
I'd be better off telling you what I can't do. I can't write coding for websites or any of the technical things.

Did not read most of this, but I'll give my 2 cents.

The only thing that i think will truly help this game is an update that makes it appeal to more people. The way to help this game and the community is to get more people playing, and I see very few ways of doing that. Maybe if we got dod:s setup for cevo or some kind of incentive to get some of the old cal-i players back the competition would increase. Or if another LAN was setup like newegg (even though i wasn't there) it would spark some interest.

The way i see it, most of the people that hang on fragdods have for a long time and even if they stop playing dods they still troll around and say hi, whatever. You can write all the articles you want, but i don't think it'll improve the community. Sure they are interesting to read but I don't think anyone would be right pissed if fnf or predictions didn't come out.

as most of you know im not the best writer, and its hard for me to put my thoughts into words sometimes, but cypher and excal both pretty much hit at was i was trying to say.

and scrufffman im not trying to do this to bring people to our game, but trying to make it a more enjoyable environment for those that still stick it out. a good majority of dods players that are active in the community have played for several seasons, and ive seen a decline in decency over the past 2 seasons.

many things can be done. a huge one that EVERYONE can do: just be civil(like you would be with people you dont like in real life), if you dont like someone you dont have to express it everytime they post, just ignore them.

also im trying to give those who want and are willing to help a chance to do so.

this isnt about being chosen or being accepted, its about giving some of your time to the game/community in a number of ways. if 20 people spent 1-2 hours a week doing random things. even things like jesters idea for realism mod, whether its agreed upon by most or not, discussions like that are what we need here. and they need to be civil, and the mods here should try to make sure that those discussions stay civil. the bullshit section is a section that requires the least modding, the rest of the sections should be modded according to the forum rules on a more stricter basis, with the intentions to keep things civil, and not to shut up someone that you dont like.

we should consistently have the draft every friday or saturday, just select a group of people who will be committed to running it every week. despite the people who want to gain an unfair advantage to win it, so be it. just let the losers play just as many games as the winners because its mostly about playing and having fun, not just winning.

we also need people to do predictions for every match and maybe even power rankings again. just brainstorm a bunch of ideas and see who is up for each of these.

Excal, perhaps you need someone responsible and motivated that can head up the writing staff to constantly keep them in providing quality content and helping brainstorm ideas of articles to be written about. Some people know how to do something, such as write, but have a hard time with creativity when coming up with the ideas to write about. At the same time, this person can be actively making sure their staff has enough active writers.


I have someone that does that and he is doing a fine job and is continuing to do a fine job. If he feels he needs some kind of help he will get someone to help him.

Let me just point out what mostly we do around here....

I do all the behind the scenes stuff (eg. keep the site up, running and updated; I keep the server up to date to keep things on the up and up so there is no downtime. I also mod everything here.) I am the owner and have final say in everything that happens here in the end.

dmon is our staff manager which he is responsible for hiring/firing staff. He is also in charge of the writers and getting them to write stuff. He is basically responsible for everything up front on the front page and the forums. He has full priviledges to make admin decision when needed. He is 2nd in command basically.

Pande is well pande and will be back whenever he does.

Winters/buddylee/theprez our the senior super moderators. They are right below dmon and I and have can mod everything and everyone. All 3 are good mature people who you sometimes might not agree with but they are doing what they are suppose to.

Chadsexington is our last supermod. Altho he has the same priviledges as the other 3 he is newly promoted so he can't be up there with them yet. But he is an asset to this site for doing several things for this community.


Those are the top admins here at fragdods and I didn't post this just to put them over but they are very good staff but sometime get a bad wrap. So I thought I would just say what everyone does around here. I didn't forget the mods and writers so don't think I did there are to many to list and move in and out sometimes often but I do appreciate what they do for the site.

I'd like to thank all the fragdods staff and I welcome new comers that are willing to do stuff for the site but in turn I really don't want to hear the "well I offered but <insert same old shit here>". If you was over looked for fragdods staff, cal staff, #scrimdods ops or whatever rest assured it wont be your last chance but if you continue doing what you are doing to get over looked then you might want to change that.

Well, this site and CAL more or less have a direct dependency on each other. DoD:S removed from CAL would render this site useless, and this site dissolving (granted another of its type doesn't surface in its place) will lead to many becoming even more bored of the community and thus leave. Nevertheless, someone with the same mindset of Dane Nickels wouldn't be the best to have as a leading figure (I use 'leading figure' loosely for anyone in position of power over any part of this community).

So please explain how he was shunt out of the process because he wasn't in dmon's group. Zono took it upon himself to be immature about the situtation in the past. So why should he get any kind of whatever power to do anything when you act like a complete baby? Same goes for several others in this community who has offered to help but has been over looked but then go and cry about how they offered to help but since they aren't in the such and such group they wasn't asked to do something.
