This was also a HUGE issue with TryPants; people would view the site/board and not register. If they WOULD register, they'd never post anything but just constantly lurk around.

But lurking is so much easier...
So since we have 100 registered members (in less than a weeks time)... Tell me what would bring you to these forums regularly and post/interact with us?
Give me the ideas....

Well - the site is sterile and inclusive. Most of the people here are from TryPants and with that comes the same issues TryPants had. Posting junk like "LOL Dicks" "Do girls pee" and "LOL Revvy is a hot girl who dates faggots on the Internet" are all hilarious and usually started by moi, however you actually need "content" to attract people to post.
Every "community" on the Internet has divisions, much like high school - nerds, jocks, elitists, assholes, etc. I'm doing my part by being a flamer with a hilarious avatar of the fuhrer, I don't write content and I don't have any desire to (especially here). So, what you're left with really is coming up with ways to:
Attract new people
Minimize the amount of people who think you are Hitler (I will do my part by BEING Hitler)
Police the people who DO become Hitler
Add new people
Add content (non bad)
Add content (bad = me/cypher)
minimize corruption (do not hire cypher, me or brandon)
come up with some kind of "theory" on what this site is going to do. It's nice to be reactionary and say "Hey, this will replace (XXsite.com) but do you have a plan to do so?
In the end, come up with something on your own and make it your own (or steal it from someone and make it your own, whatever). As long as you put SOMETHING for people to read/react to, I guarantee people will post (if just a little bit).
Challenges:
Establishing the PURPOSE of your site
Establishing the purpose of posting/writing content (non-forum related)
Establishing people to monitor/patrol and otherwise Gestapo/KGB up the process on both ends (forum/etc)
Defining a reason for your existence on the Internet (who are you, why do I care you own/run a site? Who the fuck does?)
Your sites agenda? Every site has one, get one and push it. If it's a bad one, I'll break up a tea-cup and stab you in the eye with it.
Overcoming these challenges
Staffing - most important
Editors - semi-important
Users - most important
Senior Editor - not important, even though Gotfrag? will tell you it is
Delegation
Find tasks to be completed to overcome your challenges/obstacles; hire people to fill these positions then delegate work out - don't do everything yourself or you turn into me and post nekkid pix of T*Rock on the Interwebs with Morlock. Don't hire people like JStephens, they will just come on ventrilo and tell you about their fetish for Animal Husbandry and that's bad bad bad!
Brandon
Find yourself a Brandon; Brandon was awesome - did tons of quality "development" work behind the scenes and was a non-advocate of animal husbandry, this is an important key feature of any good site. The behind the scenes developer/site engineer is the dude who does everything but no one usually ever sees do anything. A good sys admin can do 10 things at once, post pictures of nekkid chix on the Interwebs and look like a Morlock any day of the week and no one knows about anything he did except for the porno stuff that you all deleted anyway because animal-sex-furry-pics.rar is a bad file to download off your buddies computer and send onto the Internet that night last weekend anyway Cary Morlock!

This is covered under "no one who believes in animal husbandry" clause of the site.

I like to make power-point presentations; threads/posts are just an extension of that. Also, when you're trying to explain something to people, it's easier to be organized than to say "durrrr you do this and site works el oh ellolo!11!"
