eVGA 8600GT 512MB, GPU is 100MHz faster and the Memory clock is 540MHz higher than that PNY you linked and its cheaper. They've got a great lifetime warranty plus you can trade it in towards the purchase of new card within the first 3 months through them.

Personally I'd just wait, but seeing as you have integrated, get on that card NOW

I doubt the 9's are coming out any time soon, are they?? The 8 series isn't old by any stretch...
Nvidia is ready for its next-generation GPU launch. According to sources at graphics card makers, the company plans to launch its GeForce 9 series GPU after the Lunar New Year in February.
The first chip to rollout of in GeForce 9 family will be the D9E, a high-end product that adopts 65nm manufacturing. The new product will also support DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1, revealed the sources.
In addition to the D9E, Nvidia will roll out a mid-range GeForce 9 family product named D9P in June 2008. The new GPU will adopt 55nm processing, the sources pointed out.
from digitaltimes.com.... eh.. some sites are saying spring... some are saying Feb.
yea the problem with a 9000 series now is there is still no real big competition with the 8800. so why release when they can make money of the 8800 and thers for longer then realease the 9000 when another card comes out that is somewhat competition
I have been looking at some 8600 and 8800 so far it seems that 8800GT is worth the money but if you are on a budget, 8600GT can be found really cheap. You could also sli two of those and get some amazing results. Use pricewatch.com and zipzoomfly for good sales.

I basically got my bro the same thing for xmas.. its a good card for the cash.... so he would stop bitching about how he cant play DOD cause his pc sucks, he got a new pc too...
usually intel, being the cocks they are, release chips they have already developed long before.. when AMD decides to release their latest and greatest. They did it around July 23rd... they slash their prices and release their latest products right before AMD... crushing AMDs release.... lol ... maybe ATI is going to be releasing a new card soon.. i dont follow it much...
well just got my new computer.

Not Intel's fault that AMD's chips aren't the best anymore. Its a business and they run it as such, if they can steal thunder then do it.
In other news (slightly old) Intel postponed releasing their new processors because AMD's next line up can't compare to it, and releasing now would steal sells away from their own current gen Intel chips
