well I am trying to make a dod:s video but FRAPS quality overall sucks. And was wondering since hl2 games have a built in feature to record i would use that and it would be good quality. but i don't know how to convert the .dem into .avi or anything else. thanks for all help

EDIT: found the solution here How to: Record movies in HL2/CS:S efficiently? - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net (http://www.overclock.net/faqs/24487-how-record-movies-hl2-cs-s.html#post252046)

idk if anyone knows this but u can record to .avi straight from the demo.

also, team SK had a program out that used to convert .dem files to .tga automatically.

I thought that was for GoldSRC only?

well i found that after you record the demo you need to go into the source console and type start movie or something like that and it creates the .tga image sequence. but if someone find something to directly convert the .dem file it'd be great. looking forward to making my first dod:s movie.

yeah, i think it was.

unfortunately, you have to do the whole "startmovie" shiz to get your .tga's and then convert them using vdub or videomach or something of the sort. also, the .dem to .avi is really shitty and the avi's are huge.
