Your Future after this CAL Season?

Well Season 7 of CAL DOD:S is coming to an end and I was just wondering what everyone's future plans are and if you will be staying with DOD:S or moving onto another game such as Team Fortress 2 or Call of Duty: 4.

About 80% of OWS1 will be leaving after this season and won't be coming back to DOD:S. Has nothing to do with CAL at all, afterall even if most of you dont' know us, we've played league the last 8 seasons (6 myself) mostly in TPG...and that league was horrible in comparison to the way that CAL runs it's league and it's organization...TPG was a joke.

In all honestly, DOD:S just isn't fun anymore for most of us and we won't be playing it competitively anymore. We will have 1 OWS team in CAL still which is the remnants of my team and OWS2.

We will be more than likely be moving onto Team Fortress 2 in league after our break from League competition....possibly COD4 in the further future...both really fun games. I already see KoTHR in the highlander league we are in for TF2... :)

Thanks for the good season all, sorry if I pissed in anyone's cheerios, I have that effect on people sometime with my comments...Hell I joined this community just to retaliate to Chad's comments before the season started. :)

In all honestly, love me or hate me, but I enjoyed this season more than any others because of this community. So thanks to those that run it and support it.

From what I've been hearing, competitive TF2 had a quick death. I could be mistaken with that comment, so don't jump down my throat for it, but from what I've heard, the competitive environment for TF2 took a big dump already. I personally haven't played TF2 yet, although I've heard it's tons of fun to pub.

I personally have little interest in moving to a different game. My focus is DoD:S, even with it's flaws, I have the most fun playing this game. Also, with this potential update coming up soon, why leave now when so many teams/players have been talking about coming back after the update? To each his own and people have to do what people have to do, but the competition level in DoD:S may be rising in the near future.

TF2 is the worst game i've ever played. And i've fallen for rochambaux. Twice.
Uninstalled after 30 minutes.

COD4 competitivly is going to be bad bad bad. S&D will suck. Its going to be grass proning and window peeking everywhere. No fun. Also no fun is the fact that that guys uzi is as accurate and has the same distance as my M14.

COD4 domination could have been fun, but theres 1/20th of the amount of teams than in S&D.

Competitvly, its dods or nothin from me.

Let's put it this way...if the update brings to the table a whole bunch of good fixes/patches whatever you want to call it.....we may make another run at DOD:S...but right now, it just gets irritating to get owned because of the flaws in the game.... ie Thompson headshot from a mile away....and K98 up close no kill...

Not flaming the game though, dont' want this to turn into that type of thread....I have played it since release and it's what brought me to OWS so it's still a fun game to play pub...but the game needs some work to make it fun again for me in league...

And I agree with you Chad on COD4, it's going to be hard to run a league on that game...so I'll probably just pub it. But here is the league they are playing in for TF2...they are just jumping in at the last 4 games of the season to test it out...maybe it will suck, but they are giving it a shot. I'm just a sub for now. I'm not advertising by any means, hell I haven't even read the rules yet since I'm a sub, just putting it out there.

tf2 is the definition of a pub game. They actually removed the quick switch from the sniper because people with skill were capable of having a score that reflected such skill. People say the skill ceiling in DoD:s is low, tf2's is a few centimeters from the ground.

I know it's a pub game Scruff, but it's still a "Fun" game and that's what it should be about when you play a game...I'm not looking for realism or I'd stay with DOD or something similar...just all out fun.

I generally play scout and love bashing heads in with a baseball bat...:pman and that guy in that article went down the line and talked about every team in that league....I dont' think anyone here has done that....LOL

TF2 = Arcade fun when DoD isn't alive.
CoD4 = Much better game than DoD, but I'm not seeing how organization and whatnot will work well in a league atmosphere for the game.

Watched a CEVO-O COD4 match the other night and it looked alright. A bit too much like CS for me. Although the camera work was shitty so it was kinda hard to tell what was really going on.

you can bash TF2 all you want, but to compete at the highest level it took a lot of skill. i was with mt/turmoil for the TGL tournament and the free cevo tourney, and playing against the top teams like the doctors is really tough. the skill ceiling is higher than some people give it credit for. the problem is the amount of luck that goes into varies from match to match, team to team.

im playing s8 to play with josh, bryan, and edit again. i only play/played this game to have fun with friends, and thats not going to change.

I plan to bad it up CAL-O style in S8, maybe buy CoD4 and see if that scene is still being squatted by five year olds too. I hope DoD:S doesn't die because it's not really that bad of a game vis-a-vis what else is out there. It would be nice if the perennial CoF issue could be addressed but all in all, it's still a great team game.

Well, here in Argentina DOD:S it's going dooooown sadly, no new players at all, it's very difficult when a player leaves the clan to replace it. Personally i'll give CAL another try, This season my team (ghost squad) ended 10 in his divission, and i'm hungry for more we did a great job i think.

I was playing another games like COD4 but i really, REALLY hate pronners so i play it just for fun not in another level cuz it pull my nerves soooo bad :D

Honestly I am getting tired of dods for most of the reasons other people...if the update comes I can see many people coming back and make it pretty fun again. Being on Madcast its not really enjoyable to get rolled by invite teams in scrims ;p and have no main teams to scrim ;(. Plus as most of you know I am probably the best awp in cal open so.....I will stick with dods as long as Omega is around because they are pretty fun but after that who knows!!?!?!?! After playing 1.3 though...source is so l0l with 83s, 90s, and 5 shot bar/garand.
