well when i bought my 8600GTS is came with Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, but it doesn't show that i use it with STEAM. anyway of doing this?

Another problem is my DVD drive only shows up as a CD Drive. It never used to be like that but happened like this week.

1. If you have a cd-key that you bought out side of steam you can try activating it though STEAM. You will need to see what kind of keys and games are accepted on the STEAM website (ex. I have Doom3 along with the CD and cd-key. However I can't activate it though STEAM unlike the key that was bought through STEAM itself. Some games you can some you can't)

2. Can you DVD drive still play dvds? If yes then dont worry about it. Is there media in the drive? take it out. Have you updated the fireware on the drive?

ok thanks for the help. the dvd drive still says its a cd drive but i can use it normally like a dvd drive and the activate through steam didn't work. but whatever ill try some stuff later.

My suggestion is to not play quake wars as it is terrible.
